The BYU Folk Music Ensemble, formed in 1982 to accompany BYU's International Folk Dance Ensemble, has grown into a celebrated stand-alone ensemble known for its warm, authentic sound across American, Celtic, and world folk traditions. Under the direction of Mark Geslison, the group has historically featured smaller collectives such as the Touring Band, Celtic Ensemble, and Klezmer Ensemble, each exploring a distinct facet of folk music. The ensemble's expansive repertoire spans Appalachian folk, blues, bluegrass, Cajun, jazz, country, Celtic, French-Canadian, and other traditional traditions, delivering performances that are both rooted and adventurous.
