BYU International Folkdancers Tickets

BYU International Folkdancers (IFDE) is BYU’s largest and most versatile performing group, tracing its inspiring origins to 1956 when founder Mary Bee Jensen established a company that would become a cornerstone of BYU’s cultural identity. With approximately 180 dancers and a dedicated 46-person touring unit, IFDE brings together authentic folk narratives from more than a dozen nations, weaving live music by Mountain Strings into vibrant performances across campus and beyond.

IFDE has graced historic stages and ceremonies, including appearances at the 1988 Seoul Olympics and the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics opening ceremonies. The ensemble showcases dances from countries such as Ukraine, Poland, Serbia, Turkey, China, Hungary, Ireland, India, Indonesia, the United States, and more, delivering high-energy, storytelling-rich performances that celebrate global heritage with Utah-rooted energy.

Beyond the stage, IFDE is an active ambassador for BYU’s campus programming, touring and collaborating to bring diverse folk traditions to audiences near and far. The group continues to expand its repertoire and reach with new productions and projects on campus, in California, and internationally.

Upcoming highlights include the 2025 on-campus production Journey: Reflections, running January 23–25, 2025, at the Richards Building Dance Performance Theatre as part of BYU’s campus programming. The 2025–2026 season features World of Dance on BYU’s campus and a planned February 2026 California tour featuring Journey: Reflections with performances spanning Serbia, Turkey, China, Ukraine, Hungary, and more.
