The Cal State Monterey Bay Otters represent a dynamic athletics program based in Monterey, California. Since launching in 1996, the Otters have built a storied presence across NCAA Division II, competing in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and, for women’s water polo, in the WWPA. The Otters’ home venues, the Otter Sports Center for basketball and volleyball and Cardinale Stadium for soccer, anchor campus life and competition. With 14 varsity programs (6 men’s and 8 women’s), CSUMB Otters have pursued excellence across a range of sports, earning national recognition and 23 NCAA postseason appearances through the decades. The program’s lone NCAA team championship came from men’s golf in 2011, and baseball achieved notable success with four consecutive CCAA regular-season titles through 2025, highlighted by a 13-3 win over San Francisco State on May 3, 2025. This page highlights the Otters’ history, key milestones, and upcoming appearances.
