The Canadian Arabic Orchestra (CAO) is a dynamic not-for-profit ensemble rooted in Canada’s diverse musical landscape. Founded by Lamees Audeh, Vice President & Music Director, and Wafa Al Zaghal, President & CEO, CAO evolved from a piano/qanun duo formed in 2009 to a full ensemble registered in April 2015. Since then, CAO has self-presented 150+ concerts across Canada, delivering high-energy performances that regularly sell out with 70-100% of seats filled and delight more than 12,000 patrons in 2019. In 2020/2021, CAO drew 60k+ online views, keeping audiences connected even during challenging times. The group’s work blends classical Arabic repertoire with contemporary arrangements, creating a bridge between cultures and audiences. CAO continues to curate ambitious programs, collaborations, and education initiatives that showcase Arab musical traditions with a modern Canadian voice.
