Established in 1998 as the official U.S. affiliate of Make Music Day (Fête de la Musique), this free, all-ages celebration brings 100+ acts to 20+ venues around Carrboro. The festival kicks off with a community Open Mic at Town Commons, followed by a main day that typically starts around 1:00 PM at multiple venues, including Cat’s Cradle, ArtsCenter, Century Center, Drakeford Library Complex, Lanza’s, and more. Note: In 2025, the festival featured shuttle services and workshops, with performers compensated via honorarium and town coordination for sound and operations.
