Since its inception in 1947 by Howard Pence, the Central Kentucky Youth Orchestra (CKYO) has grown into a cornerstone of youth classical music education in the United States. As one of the oldest independently chartered youth orchestras, CKYO serves more than 450 students across six orchestras—Symphony, Concert, Repertory, Bravo String, Jazz Arts, and Jazz Repertory—along with a Percussion Ensemble and two community programs (MusicWorks and Friends in Music). This page highlights the 70th Season Fall Concert, ongoing ensembles, and CKYO’s storied history of performances and tours.
