Champaign Urbana Ballet (CU Ballet) is a not-for-profit performing arts organization serving the Champaign‑Urbana region with a focus on community access to classical ballet. Founded in August 1998 by Deanna Doty Warfel, Donna Warwick and Bonnie Ziegler, CU Ballet draws dancers from roughly a 45‑mile radius. The company nurtures talent through the Champaign Ballet Academy, led by artistic director Deanna Doty Warfel, and supports dancers with scholarships through its Scholarship Program and community initiatives like Tickets for Families. CU Ballet also runs Project Pointe to assist with pointe shoes and related supplies for dancers aiming to pursue pointe work responsibly.
