Charles Pettee is a seasoned performer and songwriter whose career spans bluegrass, folk, and Psalm-inspired music. As a founding member of The Shady Grove Band, a Flying Fish era bluegrass outfit, he helped shape a distinctive sound that includes releases like Chapel Hillbilly Way (1994) and Mulberry Moon (1990). Pettee later formed Charles Pettee & FolkPsalm, producing a series of Psalms-themed albums such as Steady Love, The Way of Manna, and A Dove On Distant Oaks. Today, he records and performs as Slippery Hill with his son Jackson, releasing Slippery Hill Bluegrass in 2024. With over 5,500 performances across the US, Canada, and Europe, Pettee remains a trusted and approachable figure in roots music.
