Since forming in 1985 in New York, Cherish the Ladies has been a standout beacon for top American women in Irish music. Founded by Mick Moloney to spotlight female virtuosity in traditional tunes, the group takes its name from a traditional jig and has grown into a dynamic ensemble known for high-energy performances, intricate step dancing, and lush vocal harmonies. Led by flute and whistle maestro Joanie Madden, Cherish the Ladies blends classic Irish tunes with contemporary vocal pieces and occasional Celtic Pops elements, creating a sound that travels from intimate sessions to large symphonic collaborations.
