Cherry Duke is a versatile performer renowned for her expansive repertoire spanning opera, oratorio, recital, and cross-over theatre. Originating the role of The Captain in Dog Days by David T. Little and Royce Vavrek, she helped shape a pivotal moment in contemporary opera. The original cast recording (VIA Records, 2016) remains a touchstone in modern vocal theatre and was later re-released by Bright Shiny Things. In 2025, Cherry expanded her impact by becoming Artistic Director of El Paso Opera and serving as a Professor of Practice at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), positions through which she champions underrepresented composers and diverse programming. Her ongoing work blends rigorous performance with education and community engagement, making her a trusted figure for audiences seeking thoughtful, high-caliber performances.
