Chicago Black Dance Legacy Project Tickets

The Chicago Black Dance Legacy Project (CBDLP) is a landmark collaboration launched in 2019 by the University of Chicago’s Logan Center for the Arts and The Joyce Foundation. Created to elevate eight Chicago-based Black dance companies, CBDLP has grown into a thriving platform that supports performance, capacity-building, archiving, and outreach across the city’s vibrant dance ecosystem. CBDLP partners include The Chicago Multicultural Dance Center & Hiplet Ballerinas, Deeply Rooted Dance Theater, The Era Footwork Collective, Forward Momentum Chicago, Joel Hall Dancers & Center, M.A.D.D. Rhythms, Move Me Soul, Muntu Dance Theatre, NAJWA Dance Corps, and Praize Productions Inc. CBDLP operates as a program of The Logan Center (University of Chicago), coordinating presenting, capacity-building, archiving, and outreach for Chicago’s Black dance ecosystem. The initiative has earned wide recognition in The New York Times, Chicago Tribune, and Ebony for its efforts to elevate Black dance in Chicago. In 2025, CBDLP presents Unbound: Shattered Frames, Endless Visions at Harris Theater on August 23, 2025, featuring the second cohort and multiple Chicago-based companies. Auditions for the Emerging Dancers Initiative were held in June 2025 to nurture youth and pre-professional talent for the Harris engagement.
