Biography
The Chicago Roots Collective began in the fall of 2008 as a collaborative exciting the Chicago Bluegrass and Blues Festival. Formed as a consortium of 10 local Chicago bands, the collective emerged as a hub for tight harmonies, improvisational prowess, and a shared love of traditional and contemporary roots sounds. Over the years, the group has featured a rotating roster of Chicago’s finest performers, with Cobalt & the Hired Guns recognized as a founding member entity within the collective. The emphasis is on authentic live performance, strong songwriting, and a community-oriented approach to booking and touring. The balance of bluegrass instrumental finesse, bluesy swagger, and folk storytelling makes Chicago Roots Collective a go-to when audiences crave soulful, high-energy concerts.
