Children of Uganda (COU) is a nonprofit performing arts group founded and formally registered in 1995 to support orphans and vulnerable children in Uganda. Through music and storytelling, COU celebrates Ugandan culture across languages like Luganda and Swahili, delivering powerful performances that fuse traditional rhythms with contemporary energy. The ensemble is renowned for its advocacy work, notably the Tour of Light, an outreach program that has taken the group from early tours in 1996–2006 to revivals in 2012 and 2014, and a free virtual event in 2021. COU’s performances have graced prominent venues and stages, including Wolf Trap and the Joyce Theater in New York, as well as other U.S. stops during earlier tours. Their story is not just about music—it’s about empowering children through the arts and connecting audiences to Ugandan culture and humanitarian work. If you’re looking to secure tickets to a COU appearance or learn more about their mission, we’ve got you covered with reliable, straightforward access to listings and dates.
