Choreographic Lab Tickets

Choreographic Lab is an artist-centric program created to elevate emerging choreographers. Launched in Fall 2021 by Antonio Douthit-Boyd and Kirven Douthit-Boyd, the initiative supports fresh voices in contemporary dance through rigorous development, mentorship, and showcase opportunities. Based in St. Louis, COCA serves as the home for this pioneering project, inviting dancers and audience members to experience the next generation of choreographic brilliance.

The program emphasizes a six-week development cycle using COCA’s Staenberg Performance Lab, working with COCA’s Pre-Professional Division dancers. The culmination is a showcase during COCA’s New Works Festival, offering a platform for newly minted works to reach the community.

Choreographic Lab partners with esteemed mentors for the 2025 season, including Jamar Roberts, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Houston Thomas, and My’Kal Stromile. The ongoing collaboration ensures rigorous artistic development and real-world performance opportunities for participating choreographers.

Upcoming seasons continue to expand the impact of the Lab. The 2025 schedule runs September 8–October 11, with the New Works Festival featuring the choreographer on November 7 at Staenberg Performance Lab, COCA. The Lab selected Arpège Lundyn for 2026, with a piece planned for the New Works Festival. The inaugural showcase in 2021 featured Mason Cummings as the first participating choreographer, signaling the program’s mission to nurture fresh talent.
