Chris Gage was a renowned multi‑instrumentalist based in Austin, Texas, celebrated for his prowess on guitar, piano, accordion, mandolin, and more. A true steward of the Texas and Austin music scenes, he co‑founded MoonHouse Studio and MoonHouse Records with Christine Albert. As half of the Albert & Gage duo, he helped shape a unique blend of roots, pop, and Americana across six albums released on MoonHouse Records between the late 1990s and 2009. His work as a producer and engineer, including projects with Jerry Jeff Walker, cemented his reputation as a trusted collaborator in the Austin sound. Gage also contributed to the community through a long‑running Monday night residency at Donn’s Depot, where fans enjoyed intimate, live performances. His passing on August 24, 2025, was felt deeply across ACL, MoonHouse, and the broader Austin music family, with memorials and tributes highlighting his generous spirit and enduring impact.
