Chris Murray is a foundational figure in Canadian ska, frontman of King Apparatus, and a prolific solo artist known for blending ska with acoustic and lo-fi reggae textures. Based in Los Angeles for years, he has been a regular at ska/reggae clubs like the Bluebeat Lounge, and continues to perform and record under his own name and as Venice Shoreline Chris. With a career spanning the late 1980s to today, Murray has shaped the sound of modern ska with storytelling vocal lines, tight horn arrangements, and a laid-back, DIY sensibility.
