Circus of Books is more than a performer—it’s a piece of LGBTQ+ history. Originally opening as Book Circus in the 1960s on Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, the space evolved into Circus of Books in 1982 after Barry and Karen Mason took over, becoming a landmark venue for community and culture. Though the brick-and-mortar storefronts closed in 2019, the Circus of Books name lives on as a dynamic gallery and events space in West Hollywood and beyond. We’ve got you covered with a concise biography, key discography highlights from featured performances, and up-to-date information on upcoming tour dates.
