Citizens! formed in London in 2010 and quickly made waves with a blend of indie rock, synthpop, and indie dance. Signed to Kitsuné in 2011, they released their debut album Here We Are in May 2012, produced by Alex Kapranos of Franz Ferdinand. Their second album, European Soul, arrived in April 2015 and was recorded at Kitsuné’s Paris studios. The duo has earned early recognition including NME Radar Band of the Week (2012) and a Fubiz Award for the True Romance music video. While public activity after 2015 has been sparse, Citizens! remains a standout act in the indie scene, known for catchy melodies and a bold, electronic-leaning sound.
