CKYO, founded in 1947 by Howard Pence, is one of the oldest independently chartered youth orchestras in the United States. Based in Lexington, Kentucky, CKYO serves more than 450 students across six classical ensembles—Symphony, Concert, Repertory, Bravo String, Jazz Arts, and Jazz Repertory—plus a Percussion Ensemble.
