The Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra (COYO) is a full symphonic ensemble comprised of about 100 students from 40 communities across Northern Ohio. Since its founding in 1986, COYO has provided young musicians with a rigorous platform to develop orchestral mastery, perform at a high level, and collaborate with the renowned Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus (COYC). Led by music director Daniel Reith, appointed in 2022, COYO rehearses at Severance Music Center and delivers a season of three subscription concerts plus outreach performances that connect with communities throughout the region.

COYO's history is marked by adventurous programming and bold premieres. The group has presented 15 world premieres by COYO composers, including Fountain of Youth in 2016, and has earned invitations for international tours across the globe, helping young musicians gain exposure to diverse audiences and musical traditions. Notable past tours include appearances in Boston (2009), Prague/Vienna/Salzburg (2012), China (2015), and Europe (2019), with a 2024 Toronto exchange highlighted in recent activity. In February 2025, COYO and COYC joined for a special performance at Severance Music Center, continuing the tradition of collaboration and community engagement.
