Since their formation in 1946 by Carter and Ralph Stanley, the Clinch Mountain Boys have anchored American bluegrass with a rich family legacy. After Carter’s passing in 1966, Ralph Stanley carried the band forward, helping shape the sound that fans across the country recognize today. In 2016, Ralph Stanley II took the helm, guiding a newer lineup while honoring the tradition that began on the hills of southwestern Virginia. The group has earned a Grammy, released modern recordings, and continues to connect with audiences through live performances across the region.
