Conjunto Primitivo is a bold collaboration between Cesar Robles Santacruz and Ana Belén García-Higgins, formed in 2019 after a shared drum-machine recording evolved into a full project. Based in part on Chicago and Midwest scenes, the duo crafts a distinctive fusion they call a “tropigoth” collision of tropical Latin rhythms with savage techno and industrial production. Their sound has drawn attention from Bandcamp Daily and RA, positioning them as a standout act in the global underground scene.

Born from a DIY ethos, Conjunto Primitivo began with looped patterns and experiments that grew into a complete artistic vision, expanding into live performances and festival appearances across the United States.

Their debut LP, Morir y Renacer, released August 2022 on Chicago Research (CR060 LP), showcases the duo’s ability to blend hypnotic percussion with abrasive synth textures. The lead single Tafetán gained praise in Bandcamp Daily, which named Morir y Renacer Album of the Day. The project continues to evolve, with high-profile shows and new material on the horizon.
