People behind the production
The Contra Costa Wind Symphony (CCWS) is a Walnut Creek, California-based wind ensemble with a mission to perform dynamic wind-symphony repertoire, from contemporary works to swing, jazz, and traditional band favorites. Established in 1980 as the Walnut Creek Community Band and later the Lamorinda Community Band, CCWS adopted its current name to reflect its artistic focus and community-minded spirit. Led by Music Director and Conductor Dr. Luis Zuñiga, CCWS brings together 40+ volunteer musicians who share a passion for high-quality, accessible live music. The orchestra performs regularly at the Lesher Center for the Arts and participates in commissioning and premiere activities, including world, US, and West Coast premieres. CCWS is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that curates indoor concerts and community performances throughout the year.
