Copland Dance Episodes is a visionary ballet program created by choreographer Justin Peck for the New York City Ballet. Premiering at the David H. Koch Theater, Lincoln Center, this continuous, abstract 75-minute work is built around Copland’s Four Dance Episodes from Rodeo, complemented by selections from Appalachian Spring, Billy the Kid, and Fanfare for the Common Man as a curtain-raiser. The program features a 22-episode, mood-driven structure performed without intermission, offering a modern, non-narrative dance experience that critics have hailed as a landmark departure from Balanchine-era conventions.
