Corrado Rovaris is a distinguished conductor known for his deep expertise in bel canto and verismo repertoire. Born in Bergamo, Italy, he trained at the Milan Conservatory and earned degrees in composition, organ, and harpsichord. His early career included serving as assistant chorus master at La Scala (1992–1996). Rovaris has been a guiding force at Opera Philadelphia since 2005 and leads the Artosphere Festival Orchestra in Arkansas. He helped launch Opera Philadelphia’s Festival O and the Aurora Series, shaping a dynamic ecosystem for innovative opera programming.

As a longtime Music Director at Opera Philadelphia and the Artosphere Festival Orchestra, Rovaris brings a refined sense of musical storytelling and dramatic arc to performances that span both classical masterworks and contemporary operatic explorations. His work has earned him prestigious honors, including the Knight of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic (2015) and the Franco Abbiati Prize (2016), with continued recognition for his contributions to opera and music education.
