Cosmic Zoom is a landmark Canadian animated short that uses continuous zoom cinematography to explore the vast scale of the universe, from Earth to distant galaxies and down to the atomic level. Directed by Eva Szasz and produced for the National Film Board of Canada, the 8-minute film features music by Pierre F. Brault and made its debut in 1968. The film has a storied history, including U.S. exposure on ABC’s Curiosity Shop (1971) and broadcasts in the U.K. on Blue Peter, alongside widespread use in education and festival circuits. While Cosmic Zoom isn’t a musical artist with a discography, it remains a compelling cinematic experience that can be screened at festivals and special events across North America and beyond.
