The CSUN Youth Orchestra (CSUNYO) is CSUN’s long-running youth orchestras program, tracing its roots to the 1970s when it began as the Valley Young People’s Orchestra. Today, CSUNYO brings together more than 250 student musicians across six ensembles, including Camerata Strings, Camerata Strings & Symphony, Philharmonic, and Symphony. Conductors lead each ensemble, with Kimberly Blake-Kilgore directing Camerata Strings and Elizabeth Blake guiding the Symphony; other ensembles are led by CSUN faculty within the Department of Music. CSUNYO specializes in classical orchestral repertoire performed by dedicated youth musicians and is routinely featured in CSUN News & Events as Classical Music. This page highlights the group’s history, discography highlights, and a detailed look at upcoming performances tied to CSUNYO’s touring schedule.
