Widely credited with propelling the pop bhangra wave in India and developing the Rabbabi fusion and the instrument Swar Mandir, Daler Mehndi remains a staple name in Indian music. He rose to fame with early smash hits like Bolo Ta Ra Ra.. (1995) and the globally viral Tunak Tunak Tun (1998), which cemented his status as an international icon. As a performer, he has earned multiple Channel V awards for Indian pop artistry and a Best Indian Pop Album at the 1998 Screen Awards.
