Dan Stuart’s career began as the charismatic frontman for Green on Red, a band synonymous with the Paisley underground and late-80s/early-90s alternative country. After Green on Red, Stuart teamed with Steve Wynn to form Danny & Dusty, releasing collaborations such as The Lost Weekend (1985), a standout in the Alt-Country canon. In a subsequent creative arc, he launched the Marlowe Billings solo project, pairing albums with novels—Deliverance of Marlowe Billings (2012), Marlowe’s Revenge (2016), and The Unfortunate Demise of Marlowe Billings (2018). The Marlowe Billings series earned the 2023 Southwest Book of the Year, illustrating Stuart’s rare blend of music and literature.
