Danai Gurira is a Zimbabwean-American actress, playwright, and dedicated advocate known for her powerful roles in film, television, and theatre. She rose to prominence as Michonne in The Walking Dead and as Okoye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Black Panther films. As a Broadway playwright, Gurira authored In the Continuum and Eclipsed, the latter earning a Tony nomination and spotlighting Black women leadership on Broadway. Beyond the stage and screen, she co-founded Almasi Collaborative Arts and founded Love Our Girls, organizations that amplify African playwrights and promote female empowerment. While Gurira does not publish music albums or singles, she remains active in film, television, and theatre, plus public-facing advocacy.
