Dancers, Dreamers and Presidents is a pioneering three-part orchestral tone poem created through a dynamic collaboration between Daniel Roumain (DBR) and BRKFST Dance Company. The piece was originally conceived as a reflection on American life, drawing inspiration from prominent figures like Ellen DeGeneres and Barack Obama. Since its premiere in 2010 with the New World Symphony under conductor Alasdair Neale, this program has toured with multiple orchestras and dance companies, bringing a unique fusion of classical violin, electronics, hip-hop, and African-American musical influences to stages across the United States.
