Daniel Veis is a distinguished Czech cellist whose career spans prize-winning performances, chamber music leadership, and significant teaching roles. Born in Prague, Veis rose to international prominence after capturing the First Prize at the Prague Spring International Competition in 1976 and earning the Silver Medal at the Tchaikovsky International Competition in 1978. As a core member of the Rosamunde Trio, he has helped shape a vibrant, internationally touring chamber music ensemble alongside Martino Tirimo and Ben Sayevich. Veis combines performance with education, serving as a professor and former vice-dean at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and, since 2010, as cello faculty at Park University’s International Center for Music (ICM). His discography includes five albums released between 1990 and 2010, featuring both solo and chamber works.
