Danny Cox was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and became a fixture of the Kansas City folk and roots scene after moving there in 1967. Over a career spanning decades, he built a reputation for warm, heartfelt storytelling and a voice that resonated with fans across the Midwest and beyond. A prolific live performer, Cox sold out Carnegie Hall four times and remained deeply involved in Kansas City’s music and civic life. In 2009, he was inducted into the Kansas Music Hall of Fame in recognition of his enduring contributions to the regional music community.
