Born Darcy Rolston Hepner on December 22, 1954 in Edmonton, Alberta, he has become a long-time Hamilton, Ontario fixture and a respected bridge between traditional jazz sensibilities and contemporary performance. With a career spanning performances with legends and leadership in innovative projects, Darcy continues to inspire aspiring musicians and jazz lovers alike.

A versatile conductor, arranger, and educator, Hepner has lectured and taught at prestigious institutions, sharing his extensive experience from touring with Blood, Sweat & Tears to performing with B.B. King, Aretha Franklin, Tony Bennett, Mel Tormé, and Henry Mancini. His work extends to conducting and arranging for symphony-based shows, including collaborations with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra.

Darcy’s discography showcases both leadership and sideman roles, including the recorded project Blues In Another Minute by The Darcy Hepner Jazz Orchestra (2010) and numerous collaborations with artists such as Ian Thomas and Tom Wilson. His educational impact is evident from his years teaching at Mohawk College (2005–2020) and his earlier tenure at Berklee College of Music (1985–89).
