David Catching is a central figure in the Palm Desert/Joshua Tree desert‑rock scene, born June 7, 1961 in Memphis, Tennessee. A guitarist, producer, and studio visionary, he co‑founded Rancho de La Luna in 1993 and has steered its legacy since the passing of Fred Drake. Catching helped shape Desert Sessions, a rotating project that brought together an evolving roster of artists to create raw, sun‑baked rock textures. He has been a member of earthlings? since 1993 and served as a touring member of Queens of the Stone Age (1996–2000) and Eagles of Death Metal (2003–2017). His work with Desert Sessions earned Grammy recognition for packaging on Vols. 11 & 12 in 2021.
