David Lucas, born David Helfman (1937), is a trailblazing American rock & roll composer, producer, and prolific creator of commercial jingles. Over a career spanning decades, Lucas wrote thousands of jingles—most notably AT&T's Reach Out and Touch Someone and Pepsi's Catch That Pepsi Spirit—making an enduring mark on popular culture. His influence extends beyond commercials into the studio, where he co-produced Blue Öyster Cult's Agents of Fortune (1976) and is credited with the iconic cowbell idea for (Don't Fear) The Reaper. Inducted into the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame in 2011, Lucas continues to inspire with new music and ongoing artistry.
