Dayren Santamaria is a prolific Cuban-born violinist and composer whose work bridges classical foundations with jazz, salsa, rumba, and Cuban folkloric traditions. From her early days studying violin in Matanzas, Cuba, to her role as concertmaster and collaborator with renowned ensembles in Havana, and later establishing Dayren Santamaria & Made in Cuba in 2015, she has built a distinctive voice in the world of Latin jazz and contemporary fusion. Now based in Los Angeles, Dayren continues to blend intricate classical technique with infectious rhythms, delivering performances that feel both virtuosic and warmly accessible.

Born in Matanzas, Cuba, Dayren Santamaria began violin studies at age eight and quickly rose through Cuba’s musical ranks, joining the National Symphony Orchestra of Havana and serving as concertmaster for Camerata Romeu. She earned a Master of Music from the University of South Florida before relocating to Los Angeles in 2007, where she expanded her collaborative reach with artists like Oscar Hernandez and Hubert Laws. In 2015, she founded Dayren Santamaria & Made in Cuba, a project that explores a fusion of jazz, timba, rumba, and classical influences. Her solo album Belleza (2015) earned critical praise, including Album of the Week from Raul da Gama of Latin Jazz Network, and her LA connections contributed to Mongorama’s Grammy-nominated 2012 CD. Dayren continues to perform at major LA venues and festivals, including the Leimert Park Jazz Festival, World Stage, and Hollywood venues, bringing authentic Cuban and Latin jazz flavors to diverse audiences.
