Days of Darkness Festival began as a Maryland Deathfest spin-off, announced on February 7, 2017. The inaugural event, with a formidable lineup including Neurosis, Warning, Manilla Road, Elder, GosT, Unearthly Trance, Dalek, and Bongripper, opened ticket sales on February 10, 2017. The festival quickly established itself as a dark, immersive experience for fans of heavy, atmospheric metal. Originating in Baltimore, MD, Days of Darkness was produced by the MDF team and carried the same ethos: serious, no-nonsense metal showcases with a focus on authenticity and community. After its 2017 debut at Rams Head Live, Days of Darkness continued with Days of Darkness II in 2018 across Rams Head Live and Baltimore Soundstage, featuring acts like Bell Witch, Crowhurst, Heavy Temple, Statiqbloom, and more. While the festival paused during pandemic years, the MDF lineage remains a cornerstone for fans seeking heavy, uncompromising shows.
