Born from the St. Louis underground in 1990, Dazzling Killmen changed the course of heavy music with math-influenced songcraft and jazz-inflected aggression. The original lineup featured Nick Sakes, Darin Gray, Blake Fleming, and later Tim Garrigan on guitar. Their studio albums—Dig Out the Switch (1992, Intellectual Convulsions) and Face of Collapse (1994, Skin Graft)—are still cited as landmarks in heavy music, with the 1996 compilation Recuerda rounding out their early catalog. In 2025, the band reunited, bringing Midwest shows to Minneapolis, Chicago, and St. Louis, including a hometown performance at Red Flag on Nov 22, 2025.
