The essentials

Quick Facts About Decibel Festival

Founded in 2003 by Sean Horton in Seattle, Washington, as the Decibel International Festival of Electronic Music Performance, Visual Art + New Media.
The five-day festival program grew to an average of over 25,000 attendees annually and hosted more than 1,100 performers from 40+ countries.
Venues used across Seattle included The Showbox, The Showbox SoDo, Neumos, The Crocodile, EMP Museum, Re-Bar, and more.
The festival concluded its Seattle edition in 2015; Decibel has since operated as a Los Angeles–based event/production company under the Decibel Presents banner.
A 20-year celebration event, stylized as DecibelXX, was held in 2023 to honor the festival’s legacy.
There are no confirmed 2025 Decibel Festival dates; the official site notes ongoing activity as a LA-based promotions company rather than a Seattle festival.
