Meet Derek Meins, a dynamic performer with a career spanning indie rock, protest-driven projects, and provocative performance art. Beginning as part of the band Eastern Lane in the early 2000s, he helped shape the sound that earned a Rough Trade signing and two early albums. As The Agitator, Meins explored maximalist, percussion-forward expressions, challenging conventions with bold singles and collaborative energy. His solo album The Famous Poet, released on 1965 Records, cemented a reputation for provocative, performance-driven work. While public activity slowed after the early 2010s, Meins remains a notable figure in the UK indie scene, with a lasting impact through memorable tracks and a history of cross-media exposure.
