Originating in 2001, Destroy Babylon began as a collective exploration of dub, punk, and reggae. Their music draws from a wide spectrum of influences, including post-punk, 1960s psychedelic rock, and progressive rock textures, merging them into a sound that’s both gritty and expansive. The band’s journey from Hudson, New Hampshire to Boston, Massachusetts reflects a commitment to authentic, hands-on songwriting and live performance.
Over the years, Destroy Babylon built a reputation for fearless live performances and collaborations with iconic figures in the reggae and dub scenes. They have toured with Easy Star All-Stars in 2012 and shared stages with Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, The Wailers, Eek-A-Mouse, and HR, cementing their position in the alternative reggae lineage while inviting new listeners into their world of sound experiments.
In 2021, the band released a dub remix suite, Long Live the Version, and the paired releases World’s Straightest Line / Course Corrections, continuing their exploration of sound manipulation and groove-driven storytelling. The duo of 2011’s Long Live the Vortex and 2021’s remix and companion releases showcases a sustained commitment to evolving their sonic identity while honoring their roots.
