DCINY was founded in 2007 by Iris Derke and Jonathan Griffith. The ensemble rapidly established New York as a hub for ambitious choral and orchestral collaborations. The first public performance took place in January 2008, initiating a tradition of high-caliber concerts across major venues in the United States.
DCINY’s repertoire spans from Baroque masterpieces to contemporary commissions, with a focus on world premieres and new works that often debut within the same season. Since its inception, DCINY has produced more than 200 concerts and involved thousands of participating musicians from dozens of countries. The organization has earned recognitions including appearances on the Inc. 5000 list and American Prize wins (2014 – Conducting, Professional Orchestra; 2015 – Arts Marketing).
In 2025, DCINY’s touring program features a diverse schedule including featured works and collaborations at iconic venues such as Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, alongside community outreach and participation opportunities.
