Hailing from Carrefour, Haiti, Djakout Mizik has been a driving force in konpa since forming in 1986. Revered for refining the nouvelle génération electronic style within konpa, they’ve helped shape the sound that connects Caribbean rhythms with modern energy. The group gained wide recognition after a landmark New Year’s Eve 2007 performance with Wyclef Jean on MTV, introducing broader audiences to their infectious grooves. In 2010, the band split into Djakout Mizik and Djakout #1, each continuing to push the genre forward. Their 2008 Haiti Carnival triumph, Kalòt Marasa, earned them Best Carnival Band honors, cementing their reputation as a dynamic live act. After a period of evolution, Djakout Mizik returns in 2025 with new material and multiple U.S. tour dates, including a forthcoming single Promesse du Jour.
