Does It Offend You, Yeah? (often styled as DIYY?) is a Reading-born act formed in 2006 by James Rushent (producer/vocals) and Dan Coop (guitar), with Matty Derham joining on drums in 2009. The project quickly made waves with a bold, electro-infused rock sound that paired aggressive guitars with dancefloor-ready synths. Their early work caught the attention of Virgin/Startime/Almost Gold, leading to the debut album
released in March 2008, laying down a template of high-energy anthems and infectious energy. The follow-up, Don’t Say We Didn't Warn You, arrived in March 2011 via Cooking Vinyl, further cementing their place in the UK alternative scene. After a productive run of touring and releases, the band entered a hiatus in 2012 before returning with a self-released, DIY approach in 2022. Their new material, including the first 2022 single Guess Who Just Rolled Back Into Town, signals a refreshed yet faithful approach to their signature sound.
DIYY? has been recognized for charting singles such as Dawn of the Dead (UK #41), Epic Last Song (UK #91), and We Are Rockstars (UK #177). The group’s career blends studio innovation with a relentless live-performance ethos that fans remember from 2008–2011 touring peaks and the 2021–2022 comeback period.
