Donald Harrison, a towering figure in contemporary jazz, has spent decades shaping the sound of New Orleans and beyond. An NEA Jazz Master recipient in 2022 and Berklee Honorary Doctorate honoree in 2021, Harrison serves as Big Chief of the Congo Square Nation Afro-New Orleans Cultural Group, a pivotal force in preserving and celebrating the city’s rich cultural heritage. Through his Music Omniverse project, he pioneered Nouveau Swing and evolved into an expansive Omniverse approach, releasing multi-genre works that fuse jazz with hip-hop, funk, and orchestral textures. His work is distributed through Ropeadope and NUEW SOUND RECORDS, with a strong presence on his official site and Bandcamp.
