Doug Henry began playing tenor saxophone in 1961 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, laying a lifetime foundation for a journeys-wide jazz career. Recognized for his work as a performer, educator, and bandleader, Henry has performed worldwide with iconic acts and remains a central figure in the Charlotte, North Carolina jazz scene. The Doug Henry Quartet brought live jazz to audiences at the Appalachian Theatre in Boone as part of the High Country Jazz Society on September 7–8, 2024, showcasing Henry's smooth tone, melodic storytelling, and seasoned ensemble chemistry.
