Since 1997, Down Home Blues Festival has been a defining voice in Camden's rich blues tradition. Born from the Arts Center of Kershaw County and Local venues, the festival combined a blues crawl with nuanced performances that celebrate traditional and roots blues. The festival's multi-venue format across downtown Camden created intimate, diverse experiences—from electric blues to folk-blues and regional styles. In 2003, the festival earned the SC Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism Festival of the Year award, cementing its role in South Carolina's cultural landscape. The 25th edition took place October 6–9, 2022, marking a milestone in the city’s blues history. While the festival concluded after its 25th year, the Arts Center continues to operate and tickets for related events remain available.
