Drupatee is widely regarded as a leading figure in chutney soca, a genre she helped evolve by fusing soca with chutney and Hindustani influences. Her pioneering work began in the late 1980s, most notably with the term chutney soca and the influential album Chutney Soca (1987). Her 1988 track Roll Up de Tassa by Mr. Bissessar was a pivotal moment that brought chutney soca into Carnival consciousness, expanding its reach beyond traditional chutney audiences. Over the years, Drupatee has been celebrated for her role in establishing chutney soca and tassa as mainstays in Carnival and related competitions.
