Edith Butler, born Marie Nicole Butler on July 27, 1942 in Paquetville, New Brunswick, is celebrated worldwide as the Mother of Acadian music. With a career spanning over five decades, Butler helped bring Acadian songs and culture to stages across Canada, the United States, Europe, and Asia. From her debut album Chansons d'Acadie (1969) to her latest work, she has been a steadfast ambassador for Acadian heritage.
